Meet the members of the newly-elected DUSU

When the final votes were tallied after 21 rounds on Friday, ABVP’s Aryan Maan secured the president’s post with 28,841 votes — well ahead of NSUI’s Joslyn Nandita Choudhary at 12,645 votes and Left-backed candidate Anjali at 5,385.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) reclaimed the post of president from the Congress-backed National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), as it went on to win three key posts in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections. The NSUI was left with just one post. When the final votes were tallied after 21 rounds on Friday, ABVP’s Aryan Maan secured the president’s post with 28,841 votes — well ahead of NSUI’s Joslyn Nandita Choudhary at 12,645 votes and Left-backed candidate Anjali at 5,385.

ABVP’s president-elect Aryan Maan

A Hansraj College graduate, Aryan Maan is pursuing a degree in Library Science. Hailing from Bahadurgarh in Haryana, he is an active football player. He has been at the forefront of several key student movements organised by ABVP, particularly those against fee hikes and in favour of improved university infrastructure.

NSUI’s vice president-elect Rahul Jhasla

A final-year Master’s student in Buddhist Studies, Rahul Jhansla has been at the forefront of student activism for the past two years, demanding improved campus and sports infrastructure, better hygiene in hostels and classrooms, access to clean drinking water, and the establishment of a Women Development Cell. He enjoys strong support from Purvanchal and Rajasthan student communities.

ABVP’s Joint Secretary-elect Deepika Jha

Currently pursuing MA in Buddhist Studies, Deepika Jha from Bihar is a graduate of Lakshmibai College. She has been deeply involved with ABVP’s ‘Students for Seva’ initiative and has contributed significantly to student-led social transformation activities, including community schools and the Ritumati campaign for menstrual hygiene awareness.

ABVP’s Secretary-elect Kunal Chaudhary

A PGDAV graduate now enrolled in the Buddhist Studies programme, Kunal Chaudhary from Delhi is a graduate of PGDAV College. He brings leadership experience to the panel, having served as the president of the PGDAV College Students’ Union in 2023. For several years, Kunal has been a prominent voice in student activism, consistently championing student concerns.
