Prosecutions have also been filed by the civic body against builders carrying out illegal constructions. (File)The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has demolished and sealed over 111 structures in the South Zone since December 1, in an attempt to keep a strict check against illegal constructions.
The MCD, along with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and police, demolished the illegal plotting done on agricultural land in the Swaroop Nagar ward of the Civil Lines zone, the civic body announced Sunday.
“During the action, the construction of boundary walls, rooms and roads etc. done by the builder on the above land was completely demolished,” the MCD said.
Currently, a team of MCD is closely monitoring illegal constructions. The corporation is specifically targeting “unscrupulous builders” who deceive the public through attractive offers.
“It has come to the notice of MCD that some unscrupulous builders are carrying out illegal construction without taking permission from the competent authority. Some unscrupulous builders trap the public by luring them with big flats. By the time the innocent public comes to know that the said construction is illegal it is too late,” the MCD said.
The MCD has also taken action at places like Dera Mandi, Aya Nagar, Bhati, Chhatarpur, Mehrauli, Neb Sarai, Green Park, Safdarjung Enclave, Greater Kailash Part 1 and 2, Mandi, Bhati etc. During the action, illegal plotting on agricultural land was demolished.
