MCD earmarks Rs 11,328 lakh for development

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Tuesday approved developmental work worth Rs 11,328 lakh,which includes provisions for building 13 new school buildings and repairing outfall drains across the Capital.

Educational institutions,roads,statues and bridges figure in civic body’s budget

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Tuesday approved developmental work worth Rs 11,328 lakh,which includes provisions for building 13 new school buildings and repairing outfall drains across the Capital.

Jagdish Mamgain,chairman of Works Committee,said that a Rs 205.91-lakh mini-stadium will also be constructed at Mukesh Nagar (Jwala Nagar) out of the sanctioned amount.

The 13 schools will be located at Guru Nanakpur (Fateh Nagar),Prem Nagar (Rohini),Shiv Vihar (Shahdara,North),Bankner (Narela),Mubarakpur Dabas (Narela),Bhorgarh (Narela),Dayanand Colony (Lajpat Nagar-IV),Janapura Extension,Chander Vihar (Shahdara,South),Pant Nagar,Sant Ravi Dass Nagar,and Dilshad Colony (Shahdara,North). A budget of Rs 5,094.27 lakh has been approved for the construction of MCD schools.

An MCD community hall will be constructed at Nehru Nagar at a cost of Rs 86.47 lakh.

Outfall drains at Rangpuri,Najafgarh-Brijwasan Road and Rohanpur village will be renovated,and a bridge will be constructed over Chirag Delhi drain. Dhrampura drain and Sunder Nagar drain,on the other hand,will witness repairs to the tune of Rs 1,387.42 lakh.

A few roads will also be repaired under the plan. “Rs 2,475.46 lakh has been approved for repairing Vikaspuri roads,the one connecting Preet Vihar and Chitra Vihar,Panchkuian Road and the ones at Janak Setu,” said Mamgain.

Among other things,Rs 61.98 lakh has been earmarked for reconstructing Dhobi Ghat at Sunlight Colony and Rs 582.64 lakh for restoring the roads in New Rajinder Nagar and Mundka village.

In taking cognisance of demands by various religious and social organisations,the statue of Goswami Tulsidas will be fixed at the intersection of Netaji Subhash Nagar and SP Mukherjee Marg.

A statue of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee will also be erected at the Mukherjee Nagar commercial complex.
