Manesar: Boy falls into sewage canal,dies

A five-year-old boy died after he fell into a sewage canal in Sector-7,Manesar

A five-year-old boy died after he fell into a sewage canal in Sector-7,Manesar,on Thursday night. Police said Sumit was playing with an older boy when he fell into the canal. Fire officials said both boys had fallen into the canal,but the older one managed to climb out. The child was pulled out of the canal after a two-hour rescue effort. He was declared dead at ESI Hospital in Manesar.

Sources said Sumit had consumed poisonous water,which led to his death.

Additional Divisional Fire Officer M S Bharadwaj said one fire tender was rushed to the spot and another returned from half way as the child had already been brought out of the canal.

The two boys were walking near the canal,holding hands when one of the slipped. “The older boy started shouting for help. However,the child could not be saved and he died despite being hospitalised,” said Om Prakash,SHO of Manesar police station.

Deputy Commissioner P C Meena has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
