A man who attempted to set himself and his four children ablaze was arrested on Friday afternoon. Police said the man,identified as Pappu,had written to the SSP,Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate as well as the UP CM alleging that his wife and child had been kidnapped by the son and nephew of a BSP MLA. In the letter,he had threatened that if no action was taken,he would publicly immolate himself. We have probed the matter and found that Pappus wife and child live separately in another part of the state. There is no question of any kidnapping as they are safe and secure, said Ashok Kumar,Superintendent of Police,Ghaziabad. It seems that this man went into depression after his wife left him,which led to this episode. In his complaint,Pappu alleged that his daughter was kidnapped from his Greater Noida home on June 7. When his wife was on the way to the police station to report the matter,she too was kidnapped by the son and nephew of the MLA,he claimed.
