Man held for smuggling data cards in socks

A 50-year-old man was arrested by the Customs department at the Indira Gandhi International airport Thursday night for having concealed 37,000 micro data cards in his socks.

A 50-year-old man was arrested by the Customs department at the Indira Gandhi International airport Thursday night for having concealed 37,000 micro data cards in his socks. The man,part of a syndicate,was to deliver the consignment worth Rs 58 lakh to someone in Karol Bagh.

Praveen Chopra,a garments businessman landed in Delhi around 11.30 pm on Thursday by a flight from Hong Kong.

“We had received a tip-off before he boarded the flight. His two hand bags were checked but nothing was found. However,when we frisked him,we found 42 small packets of Micro SD cards inside his socks,an official said.
