A 53-year-old man was arrested for posing as a doctor and running a clinic. Police said the man,Suresh Verma,a resident of Munirka, was running a clinic named Santosh Clinic.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chhaya Sharma said,“Such people are hazardous for society. In the garb of registered medical practitioners, they play with the lives of people. We will conduct an intensive hunt for such quacks and also conduct door-to-door surveys to sensitise people. Sources have been deployed to gather information about such impersonators. Strict action will taken against them.”

Police said they had received information about one Dr Suresh Verma who was running a clinic and was not a registered medical practitioner. “He was attending to patients and prescribing allopathic drugs,” a police officer said.

A raid was conducted at the clinic and Verma was asked to produce a medical degree. “He could not show us his degree. He tried to mislead police and was arrested from the spot,” the officer said.

During questioning,Verma allegedly told police that he did not have a medical degree.

“Verma revealed that he had studied only till Class X. He wanted to become a doctor. He completed a Diploma in Ayurveda from UP. He then started posing as an MBBS doctor and opened his own clinic,” the officer said.
