Quest is a project conducted by The Indian Express in schools in and around Delhi. The Indian Express organised a trip to the National Science Centre for the young ever- inquisitive minds of the city. Students from Ramjas School,Pusa Road, write about their experiences with the magic tap, walking through the mirror maze and coming face to face with Harappan culture.
MUSEUM VISIT: Students of Ramjas School,Pusa Road visited the National Science Centre. The event was conducted by The Indian Express
We also saw remote-controlled dinosaurs that moved their body parts accordingly. The most interesting was to learn the smallest computer palm-top. There was also a great collection of ancient jewellery, coins, shells and tools. There were many kinds of science-related games such as mirror maze. It was a very informative trip and we all enjoyed a lot.
Science has changed the face of the earth with its many inventions. It is very important to understand it closely. For this purpose many centres are established to study science in a practical manner. The National Science Centre of Delhi at Pragati Maidan is one of them. As we entered the centre,we found a tap suspended on four strings. This tap is special because water always runs through it without any source and disappears inside the bucket placed under it. We also found a thermal imaging device and stringless piano, which has motion sensors installed inside. A guide told us that there were six galleries to visit.
The name of the first gallery is Heritage in which one can know about ancient civilisations and their tools. The second gallery was Human Biology where one can study about the biological structure of humans.
The third gallery was Pre-historic Life where one gets to know how the universe is formed, how life occurred on earth etc. The fourth was Physical Science where we can study about the physical changes around us. The fifth gallery was Information of Revolution where we studied about the revolutions of the world like the transportation revolution and the communication revolution. The name of the sixth gallery was Emerging Technology where we studied about upcoming technologies like genetic engineering, ocean technology and future transport.
On December 2,our school Ramjas School,Pusa Road went to the National Science Centre. As we entered the centre we saw a digital monitor which was showing the population of India. It was constantly ticking and I was stunned to see the rate at which our population is constantly increasing. The first section showed us the art of the prehistoric period. We moved the next section which was Fun Science in which there were many experiments on display. In this section the most amazing part was the mirror maze. We were trapped in the illusion of the mirrors.
Then we entered the cave in which there were models of dinosaurs. It was a dimly lit area and I was fascinated to see the huge models. As we moved near to dinosaurs the models moved their heads and scared the life out of me. It was an interesting place to visit and I learnt a lot.
On December 2,I got a chance to live with science. A trip was organised to the National Science Centre. I along with my friends found it a great experience. A member of science centre gave us a brief introduction about the centre and what to expect from the centre. First we went to the Heritage section in which we saw the zodiac signs and also a small model of Jantar Mantar made by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. We saw some scenes of the Indus Valley Civilisation and also learnt many things about technology during Harappan times and got to know about the activities people at that time used to indulge in. Then I was amazed to see all the mathematic theories which I have learnt just now. I was enthralled by the historic architecture and very nice woodcraft and metal craft. We saw a section which was somewhat scary dinosaurs section.
All dinosaurs were looking alive and they just scared me. After that we had a look at another section World of Mirrors .The idea of the mirror maze was brilliant. Lastly,we saw the section Fun Science. There were lots of things that amazed me like that model of symmetry. After coming back from from the Science Centre I felt that these things will help me not in science but also in history, maths, general knowledge and many more subjects.
On December 2,we went for an educational trip to the National Science Centre near Pragati Maidan in Delhi. When we arrived there a member of the science centre introduced us to various sections of the science centre. She briefly introduced us to all the different sections of the centre. First we saw the Heritage section in which we learnt many things about zodiac signs and about the Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh who built Jantar Mantar. I was really amazed to see the scenes of Indus Valley Civilization,it all looked so real. Then I learnt more about Harappan technology and about the Iron Age.
I saw some mathematics theories there. Various historic movements and mind-blowing wood craft and metal craft were also there,we also learnt about some facts of human body.
The scariest section was the dinosaurs section. I thought they were alive and can come and eat me as their lunch. I also enjoyed the world of mirrors. There were other great things that we saw there, like the casting machines of olden times. We also saw the model of rockets and the Metro.
This trip has made more me interested about scientific facts. I am sure this trip will help me in my studies as well. The experiments and models which I saw there would help me in science, maths and other subject as well.
On December 2,our school took us to the National Science Centre. We were taken there to observe some wonderful discoveries. When we entered the building,we saw some fantastic objects the magic tap and the stringless piano. It was really a nice trip and I was lost in the amazing world of science. The section that appealed to me the most was the Fun Science section. It had many amazing and informative things that awed us throughout the trip.
After the trip ended,we were taken back to our school. The trip proved to be of great advantage to me and I would like to go there again.
