After being at loggerheads with its student community for the last few weeks, the JNU administration has finally decided on Friday to roll back some of its decisions.

After much deliberation,it has been decided that Parthasarathy Rock will no longer be given for shooting of any kind of movies or videos or serials. Plus,in order to reach out to the poorer sections, the university will provide prospectus free of cost to all needy students belonging to populations below the poverty line.

The authorities further decided to arrange for 100 per cent refund of the prospectus fees to applicants belonging to BPL.

The Vice-Chancellor will appoint a committee for a comprehensive review of entire matter pertaining to pricing of prospectus, examination fees and expenditure on conduct of the JNU Entrance Examinations. The recommendations of the committee will be placed before the Standing Committee on Admissions for the academic year 2010-11.

The university has also decided not to levy user charges for electricity consumption from the hostel residents. The appropriate body with student representation will decide any future decision on the issue of meters.

The authorities also reiterated their commitment on fulfilling the quota under OBC reservation as per the Academic Council resolution as well as the physically handicapped reservations, which will be implemented as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.  Further, the committee led by Professor Aditya Mukherje may decide on the modalities of the OBC reservations in consultation with the students’ community.
