A day after four petrol pump employees were robbed by two bike-borne assailants in Vivek Vihar,East Delhi,police on Sunday said they were investigating the role of an insider.
They recorded the statements of the four employees on Saturday.
Police identified the injured employees as Jagmohan Singh Goldie,Vinod Kumar and Jitender Kumar. The petrol pump manager,Puneet,escaped unhurt.
Speaking to Newsline,Jitender Singh Shunty,municipal councillor from Jhilmil and Goldies cousin,said,All three are out of danger. Police have recorded their statements. I think an insider is involved. The entire incident was planned.
They have told us that the assailants appeared to be 20 to 25 years old and were slightly built, a senior police officer said.
The four told police that usually they carried around Rs 15 to 20 lakh. But due to Janmashtami being a bank holiday,they had three days earnings from the petrol pump,Rs 57 lakh,on Saturday.
Around 10.30 am on Saturday morning,four employees of Victory Service Station were attacked by two assailants on a blue Bajaj Pulsar. The four were taking the cash to a Canara Bank branch.
The assailants got off the bike and shot at the employees,severely injuring three. The assailants abandoned their bike and escaped towards Ghaziabad,aided by two other bike-borne men waiting nearby.
