Infostrada to bridge lingual gap at Games

The OC has taken this step because many of the athletes would hail from non-English speaking countries. As many as 19 nations from the African continent,15 from Caribbean nations and 13 island nations from Oceania are slated to participate.

The Games will have 17 sports events,including a couple (net ball and lawn bowls) that Indians are completely clueless about. The agency would be entrusted with the responsibility of getting data on little-known games.

The OC has hired the firm at a hefty cost of Rs 9.06 crore. The multi-nation agency,which had lent its services to the Sydney Olympics,Melbourne Commonwealth Games and Beijing Olympics,will be playing a role in the 2012 London Olympics too.

The firm was founded in November 1995 by Philip Hennemann of Netherlands. While Infostrada’s statistic team brings out the result,the production desk would churn out pieces of information such as historical data on past games,background info on the event,contacts,worldwide sports rankings,world records and best performances.

The agency will have 150 staffers in the Capital during the Games. Announcing its selection for the Games,Infostrada’s CEO Phillip Hennemann posted a message on its website stating: “Despite the late appointment,Infostrada Sports is confident it can deliver first-class services to aid the media in their coverage of this major multi-sport event. Infostrada Sports has rigorously pursued the contract with Delhi because we have great faith in our operational capacity to deliver the highest standards.”
