The Passenger Reservation System (PRS) at several locations across Delhi-NCR will remain partially or fully closed on October 20 in view of the Diwali celebrations. Indian Railways (IR) has implemented various measures to ensure a smooth travel experience for both reserved and unreserved passengers during the festive rush.

However, as the functioning of PRS counters will vary across locations – with some operating partially and others remaining closed – it is advised that passengers check the specific timings of reservation counters before planning their visit or booking their ticket.

Ticket Reservation Counters in Delhi-NCR to remain fully/partially closed on October 20

In a statement, Northern Railway said: “Delhi region PRS services to operate partially on Diwali.”

Partial Service

On October 20, the Partial service for Computerized Passenger Reservation Offices will be available till 18:00 hrs in the evening shift at:-

  • IRCA Bhawan
  • Delhi Junction
  • Hazrat Nizamuddin

The following Reservation Offices will remain closed in the Evening Shift from 14:00 hrs to 20:00 hrs:-

  • Sarojini Nagar
  • Kirti Nagar
  • Shakurbasti
  • Delhi Shahdara
  • Ghaziabad
  • Karkardooma
  • Okhla
  • Noida
  • Tughlakabad
  • Subzi Mandi
  • Adarsh Nagar
  • Lajpat Nagar
  • Rohini
  • AIIMS
  • International Tourist Bureau/IRCA

“On 20.10.2025 (Thursday) in the EVENING Shift at the following locations over Delhi Division i.e. Anand Vihar Terminal (PRS), Sahibabad, Naya Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Palam, Delhi Cantt., Delhi Sarai Rohilla, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Palwal, Narela, Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Mansa, Rohtak, Bahadur Garh, Nangloi, Shamli, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar, Meerut Cantt., Meerut City, Muzaffarnagar, Khatauli, Deoband, Baraut, Gohana, Pataudi Road, Greater Noida, Noli, Saket Court, Dwarka Court, Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Shakur Basti, Samalkha, Ganaur, Shahabad Markanda, Tohana, Julana, Narwana & Chaudhary Charan Singh University (MTC),” the Northern Railway zone said.

PRS counters will remain closed for the whole day:-

  • PRS/locations at Parliament House
  • Press Club of India
  • Railway Board
  • Supreme Court
  • Delhi High Court

However, the Current Reservation counters at New Delhi (Pahar Ganj & Ajmeri Gate Side), Delhi Main, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar & Delhi Sarai Rohilla Railway Stations will work at usual timing.

Temporary restriction on parcel traffic in Delhi Area

The Northern Railway (NR) zone has also imposed restrictions on all types of parcel transactions (including leased SLRs, AGC & VPs), in the Delhi area (i.e. New Delhi, Delhi, and Anand Vihar Terminal) till October 26. The restriction on departmental booking has also been imposed till October 26.

“Parcel godowns and platforms shall remain free of parcel packages/packings and restriction is imposed on both inward and outward parcel traffic including leased SLRs, AGC & VPs at all the aforesaid stations.

Personal luggage may be allowed in the passenger coaches only and the booking of registered newspapers and magazines shall be permitted after observing all the commercial formalities.

This restriction is applicable on all types of parcel transactions (including leased SLRs, AGC & VPs) in the trains originating from Delhi area stations (i.e. New Delhi, Delhi, and Anand Vihar Terminal,) and is also applicable on the passing trains originating from other divisions/zones, having stoppages in Delhi area for loading/unloading,” the Northern Railway said.
