23 car stereos stolen in one night
Gurgaon: The Gurgaon police are looking at the possibility of a new gang of thieves operating in the area,who managed to steal 23 car stereos in DLF Phase-I in a single night on Wednesday. The incidents occurred mainly in the C and E Blocks where the thieves broke the car windshields and made away with the music systems inside. In total,17 systems were stolen in Block E while another six were stolen in Block C. The police have lodged an FIR. We have deployed teams and are probing the matter, said Gurgaon Police Commissioner S S Deswal.
Contract killer,three accomplices held
New Delhi: An alleged contract killer with a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head was arrested along with three accomplices on Thursday. He was wanted in 10 cases,including contract killings in Delhi,UP and Haryana. Identifying the main accused as Sumit Chaudhary (36),ACP (Crime) Neeraj Thakur said,Though they fired at us when we intercepted them on GT road,nobody was injured. They were travelling in a stolen car. Sumit was involved in 30 criminal cases,including four murders. The accused was given a life term in 1999,but jumped parole.
