Hunting for accused in robbery case, cops find those behind another

Police continue to look for the accused in the Raj Nagar case, in which two employees of a construction firm were robbed of Rs 1.08 crore outside a bank.

The Ghaziabad Police on Saturday arrested four men for an alleged robbery, after investigation into another robbery case led them straight to the accused.

Police initially set out to arrest the men who had allegedly carried out a daring robbery in Raj Nagar. But they soon found themselves tracking another case of robbery.

The link between the two robberies was a man, identified as ‘Chotu Pahari’, police said.

“…Our sources revealed that this man was involved in the Raj Nagar incident. Once we put him under surveillance, we were able to get evidence about the case, just not the one we had initially set out to solve,” said a senior police officer.

“The four men had robbed two businessmen in Pitampura of Rs 20 lakh,” said Ajay Pal, superintendent (City) Ghaziabad.

Pandey and his associates were part of a larger gang that operated in Ghaziabad and Delhi, said sources. “It seems likely that Pahari financed their crimes,” said the officer.
