You’ve stocked up on the gulal and the gujia,now let the Holi fun begin. The most colourful festival of the calendar,however,isn’t only about colour. There’s also music and dance to soak in,as well as a puppet show thrown in this year.

Colour Me Green: Arts organisation Red Earth promotes traditional and natural Holi. Guests play with hand-crushed marigold petals or wet colours made from beetroot,tesu flowers and spinach. The festivities also include a Holi colour-making workshop and a green drive,in which guests plant marigold saplings. The dhol and traditional festive songs liven up the day as chefs rustle up Holi staples like gujiya and thandai.

Songs of the Season: Bhawai and Mayur Nritya dances form a part of the repertoire at a concert being organised by Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra. A special Meena Bazaar has been created to offer mouth-watering eats. But,if you prefer a contemporary flavour to your music,drop in for Faridkot’s performance at Dilli Haat this evening. “We’ll play songs from our latest album Ek,” says Akshay Raheja of Faridkot.

*The Holi Cow,a three-year-old event that includes live music,art and puppet shows,looks at Holi as a Utopian festival.

“It’s a festival that is full of love,peace and music. Holi is a festival of madmen,madmen who are deliciously happy and exultant,” says festival curator Raul Chandra.

This year,the Holi Cow has grown fatter — 50 musicians,painters,graffiti artistes,puppeteers,poets and dancers will perform simultaneously on three stages. The line-up includes performers like DJ Uri and DJ Sid. Holi Cow will be held at Holi Cow Barn,Chattarpur,on Sunday. Time: 11am to 8 pm. Charges: Rs 1,000. Contact: 9811729886.
