A Man was arrested for allegedly firing at a stray dog in Sector 23,Rohini. The accused, identified as Jagat Singh, worked as a private builder in the area.

Police said Singh allegedly pulled out his pistol and fired two rounds at a stray dog, which had bitten his domestic help. He did not possess a licence for the gun, they added.

Confirming the incident,a senior police officer said,“The incident took place at Bhilasha Apartment,Sector 23,Rohini. One of his neighbours saw him opening fire at the dog,and informed the police. Soon after shooting the dog,he fled from the scene. Though he was arrested by the police, the revolver is yet to be recovered.”

Police said the domestic help at the accused’s house complained that the dog bit her once, due to which she fell ill.

“She showed him her wounds and asked Singh to help her. The next day,Singh sat next to his house, waiting for the dog to pass by. When it came along,Singh fired at the dog. Though one of his neighbours tried to stop him,he fired a second round. Then Singh fled from the scene,” an official said.

“Killing an animal is an offence and, moreover,he did not have a licence for the gun he used to commit the crime. Singh has been arrested and a probe is on,” said P Karunakaran,Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police,Outer Delhi.
