A headless body was found in the public urinal outside the DDA Park in Jhandewalan,Central Delhi,on Saturday morning.

Police said the body has been sent for post-mortem examination to Lady Harding Hospital. They suspect the victim was killed at a different location and the body dumped at Jhandewalan as the quantity of blood found at the spot was too little.

Police said the victim appeared to be in his mid-forties and was wearing “fine” clothes. No other objects were recovered from the spot, police added.

“We found a body of an unidentified male lying behind the Videocon Tower. Our first step is to identify the body. There were stab injuries in the stomach of the victim,” said Vivek Kishore,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central).

Eyewitnesses said the body was covered with a sack and was first spotted by a tempo-driver who was passing through the area early in the morning.

“I was having tea here around 7 am when the driver came and informed me and two security guards of a nearby building about a body in the urinal. We rushed to see it and then informed the police about it. The body was in the corner of the urinal and there were blood stains around. The victim wore a kurta and shorts. We tried to help the police in locating the head, but it wasn’t found,” said Munshi Ram (55),Pradhan of the area.

Tea-stall owners outside the park added that they had been in the area till 1 am on Saturday. They body must have been dumped after that, they said. “It seems to be a pre-dawn incident because we came back to our shops at 6 am,” said Uma Shanker (60).
