The St Stephen’s annual cultural festival,‘Harmony’,kicked off on Friday, with the inauguration ceremony attended by college principal Valson Thampu. The festival, organised by the college’s Students’ Union Society, boasts of a range of programmes, from ‘Through the Looking Glass’ — a slideshow of moments in the life of college students — to various art and sports events.

The three-day festival provides an opportunity for Stephanians to take some time off from their academic routine, explore the creative side and also have fun. It also provides an interactive space to the students. “We are a very studious lot. So for these three days,we take some time off from our books and just have fun. That is the whole thought behind organising the festival,” says Benjamin Cherian,an organiser.

“All of us put in a lot of effort in the festival,” he adds.

“The annual festival is the most awaited event in our college,” says Aditya, president of the Students’ Union Society.

The first day of the festival had three events, starting with a tug-of-war,a face-painting contest and a paper dance. The day concluded with rock performances by Advaita and Pentagram, featuring Vishal Dadlani.

“This is my last ‘Harmony’ and I an simply loving it. There was a huge crowd to see Vishal perform,” says Manali,a third-year student of St Stephen’s.

The students are looking forward to the next two days. The attractions include street play competitions, paintball competition,quiz,stand-up comedy, sack race and kabbadi. Participation is open to all students from colleges in Delhi and NCR.
