As rain batters Gurgaon, DC Nishant Kumar Yadav advises work from home
Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav appealed to residents not to leave their houses, except for essential work, amid the incessant rain.

Gurgaon has received 145 mm of rainfall between Saturday and Sunday as the city witnessed heavy showers on the second straight day, leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls in several areas.
Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav appealed to residents not to leave their houses, except for essential work, amid the incessant rain. Yadav also asked companies based in the city to advise their staff, except those involved in essential services, to work from home on Monday so that water can be removed from roads as soon as the rain stops.
Yadav, who visited the waterlogged areas during the rain, said most of the underpasses were opened for motorists due to proper drainage arrangements, and there was no water logging on the main carriageway of NH 48 and traffic on the stretch was smooth.
However, service roads at the Narsinghpur stretch near Hero Honda Chowk and Rajeev Chowk, among several other points, were waterlogged.
According to a communication from the district administration, it had identified 114 critical points and given orders to 16 officers to remove water from these areas to deal with waterlogging.
Yadav said efforts are on to facilitate traffic on main carriageways, adding officials of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), and Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) are working together to unclog the city’s traffic.
All officers, who have the responsibility of dealing with six to seven critical points, have been asked to remain present at their locations during Yadav’s inspection. Water is being pumped off roads through pumps and drainage, administration officials said.
