The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested three persons on charges of involvement in a gunrunning racket and have recovered eight semi-automatic pistols that were to be supplied in Delhi and NCR.
The accused,identified as Umaruddin,Usman and Pappu Solanki,members of a gang dealing in illegal firearms reportedly procured sophisticated semi-automatic firearms from Badwani,Madhya Pradesh,and sold them in Delhi,Meerut and Muzaffarnagar,police said.
We received information regarding a huge consignment of illegal weapons to be delivered near Sarai Kale Khan ISBT. Based on the input,we laid a trap and arrested the accused, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said.
Police found that apart from Munger,Bihar,illegal weapons are also manufactured in Maharastra and Madhya Pradesh and smuggled into Delhi and NCR. The department kept track of the developments and traced the route, police said.
Woman robbed of Rs 27 lakh in Sunder Nagar
New Delhi: An 81-year-old woman and her 25-year-old domestic help were robbed of Rs 27 lakh and jewellery,allegedly by another help she had employed four months ago. The incident took place in at kothi no. 6 in Sunder Nagar at 10.30 am on Monday morning. The help and two associates are absconding,police said. Police said Kanta Rani (81) and her help Sushma (25) were at home when Islam alias Mahibul entered with two others. The assailants ransacked the house,assaulted Kanta and Sushma and fled,police said.
