Ghaziabad PF scam: Next hearing in March

The special CBI court adjourned the hearing in the Rs 6.58-crore provident fund scam case to March 14.

The special CBI court on Friday adjourned the hearing in the Rs 6.58-crore provident fund scam case to March 14. The case,in which six retired judges are named as accused,was adjourned in view of the one-day strike called by Ghaziabad district court lawyers.

CBI judge A K Singh fixed the next date of hearing in the case to March 14. The CBI has filed a chargesheet against 78 people,including six retired judges,in the case.

The vigilance officer in the case,meanwhile,moved a plea stating that Sushma Asthana,wife of late Ashutosh Asthana (prime accused in the case),should be prosecuted in the case. Submitting a plea,the vigilance officer has stated that Sushma Asthana was part of the conspiracy and should not be set free. He has also assured a formal submission of the request before the court on the next date of hearing.

In the case,the CBI has alleged fraudulent withdrawal of crores of rupees from PF accounts of employees posted at Ghaziabad district court over seven years.
