Four-year-old raped: Police probing neighbours, relatives

While police have detained 25 persons for questioning, investigators suspect the role of an insider.

Two days after a four-year-old girl was raped in Northwest Delhi’s Keshav Puram area, the Delhi Police has formed eight teams to look into whether the girl’s neighbours and relatives were involved.

While police have detained 25 persons for questioning, investigators suspect the role of an insider. Police said the girl’s mother suspects the role two men, including their neighbour, and claimed they offered her daughter food to lure her away.

JCP (Northern Range) Sanjay Singh told The Indian Express that police has got a crucial lead after questioning some locals.

“We are also trying to make a sketch of the rapist with the help of the girl’s friends, who glimpsed the accused,” said a police source.
Sources said the eight teams have begun door-to-door verification of residents in the JJ cluster where the girl lives.

Meanwhile, the girl’s grandfather, who is a carpenter, said they have been living in the JJ slum area of Lawrence Road for the past 20 years.
“It is the first time something like this happened in our locality,” he said.
