What began as a usual afternoon ride for four friends in Greater Noida ended in a fatal tragedy on Monday after their motorcycle collided head-on with a car.
None of them were wearing a helmet, said police.
According to the police, the incident took place on Kulesara Pushta Road in the Ecotech-3 police station area.
“The car and the motorcycle collided in the Ecotech area. Four friends have died in the crash. The car driver has been taken into custody. Legal action is being taken,” said DCP Shakti Mohan Awasthi.
A statement from police said that the bodies have been sent for postmortem.
The car has been seized, officers said. “Further necessary action is being taken after receiving the complaint, peace and order has been established on the spot,” the statement added.
Two of the four teenagers who died were students of Class 8, while the other two were slightly older, and worked at a factory.
The four often rode together on Pushta Road, officers said, sometimes to shoot reels on their mobile phones.
On Monday too, they were returning from one such ride when the accident happened.
All the four boys were injured in the collision and taken to a hospital, but were declared dead on arrival. Eyewitnesses told police that all the four teenagers were riding the same motorcycle without helmets, adding that both the motorcycle and the car were speeding.
