Four held for Mandawali robbery

With the arrest of four persons — Mohammed Safi,23,Shadab,22,Prashant Gupta,23 and Nadeem 27 — the Delhi Police claimed to have solved the robbery,which took place in Mandawali area on August 17 in front of a bank.

Interestingly,Nadeem had called the police after the incident and had even spoken to the media.

On August 17,Mohammed Arif was coming out of the Vijaya Bank branch in Mandawali when three persons attacked him and robbed Rs 20 lakh from him.

According to the police,Mohammed Safi and Shadab were arrested in Seelampur area,where they were stopped for checking and country made pistols and live cartridges were found on them. “They were first booked under Arms Act and later they confessed of committing the crime,” the police said.

During interrogation,the accused disclosed that on August 17 they committed the Mandawali robbery along with their associate Gupta. Gupta and Nadeem were later arrested from near Ghaziabad and the looted amount of around Rs 15 lakh was recovered.

The police said the accused have been involved in other incidents as well.
