One of the friends managed to swim to the shore and informed locals. Police and divers were called in and all 4 bodies were recovered from the lake. Four boys drowned in a lake while they were trying to take a selfie from a boat, said officials Tuesday. Two of the deceased are brothers who had invited their friends from nearby villages for a trip. They were at the Kotla Jheel for boating and swimming when the incident took place.
The deceased have been identified as Mushtaq (23), Saqib (17), his brother Sohail (12), and Nazakat (19). While all the others are students at Nuh, Mushtaq was working at a private firm. He is survived by his wife and their two-year-old daughter
As per officials, the incident took place around 10-11 am Tuesday. The four boys along with their friend went to the Kotla Jheel and took a small boat.
“The water level was high and hardly anyone was around. We found that they were taking a selfie when the boat disbalanced. The small boat toppled and all the men fell in the lake. They didn’t know how to swim,” said a police official.

Md Suhail, Mushtaq’s cousin, said, “We were told that they went for an outing. They all drowned because the boat toppled. There was high current and no divers were around. It took almost 2 hours for everyone to reach”
