FIR lodged in ‘ragging’ case

The father of 19-year-old Abhishek Sahay,who died after falling from the fourth floor of his engineering college,lodged an FIR against college dean Manoj Kumar Pandey,second-year student Siddharth and four others late on Wednesday evening.

The FIR stated that while Abhishek,a first-year B Tech student of an engineering college in Modinagar,had complained to Pandey of being ragged by his seniors earlier,the dean had shielded the accused students,who have been framed under Sections 147,302 (murder),120 B and 3/4 of the anti-ragging section of the IPC.

Abhishek’s family said the seniors had allegedly snatched the victim’s phone and pushed him off the college building.

Modinagar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gyanender Kumar,however,said Abhishek’s death did not seem linked to ragging.
