Father-son duo held for snatching

A father-son duo was arrested in Central Delhi for allegedly snatching mobile phones from motorcyclists after pretending to be hit by their bikes.

A father-son duo was arrested in Central Delhi for allegedly snatching mobile phones from motorcyclists after pretending to be hit by their bikes.

The police identified the accused as Daulat (40) and his son Nitin (21),arrested in Karol Bagh area on Wednesday. One Dilshad informed beat constables Manoj Kumar and Naresh that the duo snatched his mobile phone after pretending that Daulat had been hit by his motorcycle.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Jaspal Singh said Daulat intentionally came in front of Dilshad’s motorcycle and pretended to be hit.

When Dilshad got off his bike,Nitin took the mobile phone from his pocket and the two fled. The beat constables chased them and recovered the phone from Nitin’s pocket.

“During interrogation,Daulat told us the two had committed numerous thefts in this fashion. Nitin used to lift phones and cash from their victims’ pockets,” DCP Singh said.

While checking records,the police said they found Daulat was involved in three cases of theft in Kamla Market,DBG Road and Sadar Bazar.
