The police claimed to have busted a human trafficking racket with the arrest of two men,identified as Sanjay Singh,34,and Ashraf Khan,27. The police said they have recovered 224 passports,Rs 14.5 lakh and forged stamps,letters and blank letterheads of various Gulf-based companies.
According to the police,the accused procured the stickers of Protector of Emigrants (POE) issued by the Ministry of Indian Overseas Affairs on the basis of the forged documents.
The two were arrested on Friday evening from near Ranjeet Singh Flyover Marg. The police said they conducted a raid at their office,Bipasha International Company at MB-2,Vijaya Building,Barakhamba Road.
Singh reportedly started sending unqualified people to the Gulf countries using forged documents about two years ago.
The police said the accused charged their customers between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 5 lakh. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Jaspal Singh said,We are also investigating the involvement of the owner of Bipasha International and their resources in the Ministry of Indian Overseas Affairs.
