Event manager held for raping DU student

The owner of an event-management company was on Friday arrested on charges of raping a DU student. Police said Vikas (35), a resident of Malviya Nagar, lured her to his office with the promise of a job and then raped her. The girl is pursuing her graduation through correspondence from Delhi University.

The girl told police that she met Vikas through a common friend a couple of months ago. The two then began speaking on the phone regularly, police said. Last week, the girl allegedly told Vikas that she was looking for a job. He promised to help her and told her to come to his office on Wednesday.

When she went to his cabin, he allegedly raped her, police said. When the girl protested, Vikas allegedly assaulted her and threatened her of dire consequences, police said. The girl, however,  filed a police complaint the same day.
