Empire Strikes Back

Once upon a time the Byzantine Empire boasted of such opulence and luxury that it was unmatched world over. On 11.11.11,designer Suneet Varma showcased a trace of that luxury with his couture collection,“The Coronation”,inspired by Princess Theodora and Justinian the Great,at DLF Emporio Mall. The fabrics ranged from silk organzas to chiffons and georgettes in baby pink,white and peach,and the models sashayed down the ramp in short and long dresses,corsets with ribbon rosettes,bows,Swarovski crystals and pearls,accompanied with elaborate feathered headgears. Playing the part of a perfect host,Varma was spotted interacting with his guests,that comprised among others designers Leena Singh,Reynu Tandon and Namrata Joshipura,artist Subodh Gupta and socialites Ramola Bachchan and Pernia Qureshi.
