Dumper runs into labourers,1 dead

A labourer was killed and three others injured when an overspeeding dumper hit them near the Nehru Vihar flyover in Kalkaji around 3 am on Thursday.

A labourer was killed and three others injured when an overspeeding dumper hit them near the Nehru Vihar flyover in Kalkaji around 3 am on Thursday.

Police officials said the deceased,Lallu Ram (35),and a few other labourers were loading soil into a Tata 407 when they were hit from behind. Lallu was declared brought dead by doctors at the AIIMS Trauma Centre.

“The injured,Ganga Singh,Sanjay and Umaid from Patkanagar in Rajasthan,are now stable. We have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the absconding dumper driver. A manhunt has been launched to nab him,” said a senior police officer.

In another accident,over 10 Indian Army jawans had a narrow escape when the front tyre of their chartered bus burst and the vehicle hit a pavement in Chanakyapuri’s South Avenue on Thursday morning. However,no one was hurt in the accident.
