Under the multiple entry and exit options of FYUP, students can also opt out after two semesters, with a certificate. Delhi University is working on mapping out bridge courses to enable students enrolled in the Choice-Based Credit system to transition into the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP), following the guidelines released by the University Grants Commission (UGC) earlier this month.
In its notification on March 1, the UGC had said: “For the benefit of students, UGC hereby reiterates the provision given in the ‘Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes’…Students who have already enrolled and are pursuing UG programmes as per Choice-Based Credit System are eligible to pursue 4-year undergraduate programme and the university concerned may provide bridge courses (including online courses) to enable them for transition to 4-year UG programme.”
Speaking to The Indian Express, Professor K Ratnabali, Dean, Academic Activities and Projects, said, “UGC has sent this notification and the university will adhere to this. We are working on mapping out the bridge courses and are figuring out a structure to implement this soon. But, nothing is concrete yet.” Another official at the varsity also stated that mapping out the bridge courses which could be taught, allotment of faculty, etc is a time-consuming process, adding DU will act on it and implement the UGC guideline as soon as possible.
Earlier, UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar had told The Indian Express that the changes were in step with the National Education Policy, 2020.
