DTC driver beaten up

A DTC bus driver was manhandled by assailants and the bus was damaged in Karol Bagh,Central Delhi,on Thursday night,the police today said.

A DTC bus driver was manhandled by assailants and the bus was damaged in Karol Bagh,Central Delhi,on Thursday night,the police today said. The bus,plying between Nangloi and New Delhi railway station,was crowded at the time but no passenger was injured,an officer said. The assailants,who came in two cars,were reportedly inebriated — they were allegedly carrying baseball bats and sticks,with which they first damaged the bus before attacking the driver.

A senior officer said the passengers called the police; the incident took place around midnight. One Rohit,who works at a hotel in Connaught Place and was in the bus,alleged that two constables were patrolling the area on foot when the assailants attacked but they did not intervene.
