As far as the “Hold my beer, I got this” memes go, the words don’t necessarily ring true when the average price of beer in some countries is as high as $6.32. At that price, I wouldn’t trust someone at the bar to hold my drink while I go finish whatever it is that I had to do.

A Delhiite would consume an average of 6 liters of beer in a year according to data collected by the World Health Organisation. That is 21 times less than what a person in Prague would wash down his pretzel with a beer everyday. Also the people of Delhi would spend $1,513 less than what those in Helsinki would spend on beer. Even before the recent hike of 14% in liquor tax in the state, Delhi hasn’t taken to beer like Bucharest (133 liters) did.
