Aneeth Arora
A textile graduate from NID,Ahmedabad,and a fashion graduate from NIFT,Arora has made her mark through her label Pero,meaning to wear in Marwari. The 28-year-old Delhi-based designer loves traditional Indian textiles. In just two years,her label has been lapped up by stores from 20 countries. She won the Young Creative Fashion Entreprenuer Award 2011 by the British Council.
Anand Bhushan
Delhi-based Bhushan started off as a Gen Next designer at the Spring Summer 2010 season of Lakme Fashion Week. He has no favourite fabric but textured clothing and edgy evening wear are his mainstay. His collections sell out of stores in the Middle East,the US,besides India. This year,he plans to come up with more laborious textures and glamorous clothing with matte sequins.
Pankaj and Nidhi
This Delhi-based husband-wife duo NIFT graduates who have worked under Rohit Bal is known for its edgy,contemporary work using innovative craft techiques. Since the launch of their label in 2006,Pankaj (37) and Nidhi (28) have won several awards,including the International Apparel Federation Award for 2011 and the Best Womens Prêt-à-Porter Award for 2010. Their retail lines in India have been successful and they have a growing international presence in the US,UK and the Middle East.
Suhani Pittie
A graduate of the Gemological Institute of America,Suhani Pittie,30,launched her jewellery brand in 2004. Married into the royal family of Hyderabad,the sister of designer Anamika Khanna has always had a yen for balancing the vintage with the modern and the traditional with the edgy. She was the first jewellery designer to represent India at Miami Fashion Week in 2007. In 2009,she was chosen to show to an exclusive audience in Jodhpur,which included Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall,Camilla Parker Bowles.
