As rumours of the AAP approaching the Congress on government formation did the rounds in the capital last week, the AAP vehemently denied these allegations. To add emphasis to their refuting Congress claims, an AAP spokesperson imitated the style of a popular television anchor. “We have never approached the Congress. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever. Never,” he said.
Ready for the camera
The Commissioner of the Delhi Police, flanked by senior officers, was attending a conference on women’s safety. Annoyed with camerapersons hovering over the police chief, a member of FICCI Ladies’ Organisation — which had organised the event — asked them “behave”. However, the Commissioner seemed to have been enjoying the photo session. “Arre koi baat nahi. Koi toh mera photo kheech raha hai. (I don’t mind at all. At least somebody is photographing me),” he said.
In the heat of the moment
At the Congress press conference on Saturday, Okhla MLA Asif Mohd Khan launched a verbal attack on AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal. Riding high on emotion, Khan lost track for a moment and said, “Hamare leader Arvind,” but quickly corrected himself and said, “Arvinder Singh Lovely” as the Delhi Congress chief stared at him.
Playing safe
Addressing his first press conference since taking over as the vice-chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, Prof Talat Ahmad was asked if the university was considering implementing the four-year undergraduate programme or if he had an opinion on the course. The V-C quickly replied, “Vichar bana ke museebat nahin bulani hai. (I don’t want to invite trouble by forming an opinion on it).”
Planning ahead
With a new chief at the helm, the Delhi BJP is looking to change its office building. The party has planned to set up a pantry for newly anointed chief Satish Upadhyay. And in keeping with attempts to be thoughtful of mediapersons, it also plans to set up a separate eating facility for them. It seems that the party is planning well for the imminent Assembly polls in the national capital.
