Student organisations want to win Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) polls by hook or by crook. To ensure that their names are at the top of the list, eight candidates had added the initials AAA or AA to their names. It is well-known that students who get ballot numbers 1,2,3 get more votes than the ones who are lower down in the list. Sometimes, the difference is as high as 1,000 votes, an ABVP member said. Another party activist said,Apart from putting initials before their names, some parties also get dummy candidates, who have names similar to nominees of rival parties,to contest elections. They are asked to contest elections only to reduce the votes of other candidates.
