Worsening AQI: Delhi-NCR residents woke up to a blanket of smog, with the air quality index (AQI) pegged at 559, Sunday, according to private tracker AQI.in. However, the Air Quality Early Warning System (EWS) pegged the AQI much lower, at 397.
Meanwhile, two days after a Class 10 student from Delhi’s St Columba’s School jumped to his death at the Rajendra Place metro station, with his family alleging later that he faced harassment from teachers, the institution placed four members of its teaching staff under suspension. The Delhi government has also set up a “high-level” committee to probe the incident.

The PM 2.5 pollutant level was around 280 μg/m3 and the PM 10 pollutant level was 370 μg/m3. The World Health Organization (WHO) says the PM 2.5 exposure in 24 hours must not exceed a maximum of 15 μg/m3, and PM 10 exposure must be limited to 45 μg/m3.
The air pollution in Delhi is only increasing by the day and there is no respite in sight. The air quality index in Delhi at 7 AM on Friday was an alarming 455, according to air quality tracker aqi.in. This is equivalent to smoking nearly 11 cigarettes a day. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has imposed the Graded Response Action Plan Stage-III (GRAP-3) due to the high pollution.
A Delhi court on Thursday sent Muzammil Ahmad Ganai, Adeel Ahmed Rather, Shaheen Saeed Ansari and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay, all close associates of Umar Nabi, who drove the i20 car that blew up near Red Fort on November 10, to 10-day National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody. Earlier in the day, the NIA took them into custody in Srinagar and produced them in the Patiala House Court in Delhi.
