Meanwhile, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari called the Delhi CM a “political tourist” and said that he asks for votes from Delhi to travel to other states.

From school students, the elderly and workers — hundreds flocked to Ramlila Maidan amid the scorching heat on Sunday to attend the Aam Aadmi Party’s ‘Maha Rally’ against the BJP and the “dictatorial ordinance” on the issue of services promulgated by the Centre last month.
Naseem Khan (45), an AAP worker from Shahdara, said he believes the ordinance will become a national-level issue in the future. “If the Supreme Court’s orders are not being followed by the ruling party, then there is no meaning to law and order (in the country),” he said.
Aman, a first-year BA student in Delhi University, who came from Palam, said, “I came here today to support (Chief Minister) Arvind Kejriwal because I find him honest. The ordinance the Centre has brought in takes away all the power from the elected government. Then, what is the point of having an elected government, with no powers?… I stand firm with Kejriwal because if I passed Class 12 and got admission in college, it is because of him.” (Read More)
The Aam Aadmi Party’s “Maha Rally” at the Ram Leela ground in Delhi wasn’t quite the blockbuster that was promised. On the other hand, though, it certainly wasn’t a flop. Delhi CM and party supremo Arvind Kejriwal managed to surmount an obstacle that has plagued many an Opposition party since 2019: How can the crisis of constitutional values, of “elected authoritarianism” be communicated to the ordinary Indian voter?
“The Supreme Court of India, the highest hall of justice in the land… said the elected government, the people’s will is supreme… [PM Modi] is the first PM in 75 years to not respect the court.” Kejriwal’s attack on the Centre over the ordinance overruling the SC’s verdict echoed the party line. But it is in how he made the concentration of power in the hands of the PM a matter of poor governance that the real import of the speech lies. (Read More)

“What does the ordinance say? Modiji’s ordinance says there will be no democracy in Delhi. There is dictatorship. The people are not supreme, the L-G is. It doesn’t matter who the people choose, I will run Delhi, Modiji says… Don’t think that this is happening to only Delhi. I have heard they are planning to bring a similar ordinance for the rest of the country as well. An ordinance like the one for Delhi is like the declaration of dictatorship. It will be brought in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh,” the CM said. (Read More)
Speaking on the ordinance on control of services in the national capital, Bidhuri said, "It is for the development of Delhi. The chairperson of the authority to decide the posting of officers is Arvind Kejriwal. Today, he is seeking help from people who he was criticising till a few months ago."
? You are paying crores of rupees to Abhishek Manu Singhvi to defend your corruption. This is not your money, this is tax payers’ money, said Bidhuri.
? On Kapil Sibal's presence at the rally, he said, "How is he cosying up to Kapil Sibal now is shameful."
? Attacking the Delhi CM over the expenditure incurred on the renovation of his official residence, he said, "The Home minister Amit Shah was making a 10,000- bedded hospital in 2020 but you visited only two places. You were getting your Shish Mahal constructed At the time."
? We requested the CM to show everyone his Rajmahal. He has not agreed to it so we have made a model. We will take this model to all 70 constituencies of Delhi and show people all the facilities he has made for himself
Mounting the attack on the Delhi CM, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said, "We should purify the Ramlila Maidan after Kejriwal’s rally. I was recalling the time when Anna Hazare was sharing the stage with Kejriwal. The motto at the time was anti-corruption and today he is trying to hide his own corruption using the same stage. Not once did he speak about the Lokpal Bill. You did not call Anna Hazare. Even I was part of that movement. You should have spoken about the Lokpal. If there was a Lokpal today, we would not have to seek justice elsewhere."
"Kejriwal is the most successful example of a political tourist. He asks for votes from Delhi to travel to other states. The people of Delhi, nor patriots will forgive Kejriwal."
Speaking about Kapil Sibal's presence on stage he said, "You criticised Kapil Sibal at the beginning of your political career and today you are praising him on stage."
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, Ramesh Bidhuri and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva are holding a press conference after the Maha Rally held by Arvind Kejriwal at Ramlila Maidan. In his speech Kejriwal had hit out at the Centre over its ordinance on control of services in the national capital.
Reacting to the CM's attack, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said, "The people of Delhi are ashamed today. Arvind Kejriwal is corrupt and useless. The language he has used today is of a very low standard. He has said anything he wants to hide corruption. He said he has 100 Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, this means that corruption is prevalent in the party. Both are in jail and Kejriwal says he has more. We ran a campaign in the morning to show that one person is enough to destroy the city."
"He is behaving like an ill-mannered nawab. You could not gather enough people at Ramlila maidan and that is why you are behaving like this."

? "Please assess my 8 years in power. I built schools, I built hospitals, gave people free treatment, got their children good education, free power. I gave free power, Modi ji said I'm distributed free revdi. If I gave free revdi to the poor, what is the problem?" Kejriwal asked. (PTI)
Towards the end of his speech at the AAP 'maha rally' at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, Arvind Kejriwal told the story of a young boy born to poor parents, who saints said would go on to become a big king.
"The king brought in demonetisation. This affected the economy of the country. Then one day someone asked him to bring in a Rs 2,000 note. After some years, he withdrew the notes. People told him to bring in farm laws, people died, he withdrew the laws after a year," he said.
"The king would jail those who spoke against him. He jailed cartoonists and journalists. As things started to get worse, the gods asked the people to remove the king from power and it happened in a year," Kejriwal said.
He then asked people to share the story with others.
"I request you to vote for a person who knows whether to cancel the Rs 2,000 note or to continue it," he said. Kejriwal also asked people to register on Kapil Sibal's website and support him
"The people are now asking the PM, Kejriwal made so many schools, what did you do? He has no answers. I went to campaign for the Gujarat polls and everyone was asking me how I improved government schools," Delhi CM and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said at the party's 'maha rally' on Sunday.
"One day the PM decided to get a photo clicked in a school. He couldn't find one school to get a photo clicked in. BJP has been in power in Gujarat for 30 years. They had to make a fake classroom in a studio and call 10 children, got desks places and the PM got clicked with a student. The people are asking Modi ji, Kejriwal has done so much, what did you do. So he decided he will not let me work. He arrested Manish Sisodia. He thought work on education will stop.
"He jailed Satyendar Jain, he thought mohalla clinics will shut, hospitals will stop functioning. I want to tell them, we don't have 1 Manish Sisodia, we have 100. We don't have one Satyendar Jain, we have 100. You jail one, others will be ready to work. When you couldn't do anything by sending them to jail, they brought the ordinance to stop work," he said.
"Today, the people of Delhi are in trouble. This ordinance is being imposed upon them. You voted for 7 BJP MPs. Where are they? They are hiding in their houses. They are BJP's slaves. They aren't beholden to you l, but to BJP. If you are ever in trouble, your son, your brother Kejriwal will stand with you. They will not," Kejriwal added.
"There is unemployment everywhere, they can't understand how to remedy that. There is corruption everywhere, they don't know how to fix that. Traders are suffering because of GST, they don't know how to fix that," said Delhi CM and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal at the party's maha rally on Sunday.
"Please travel in 2nd class sleeper in a train and see how they have ruined railways. In 2002, the PM was the CM of Gujarat. He was CM for 12 years. He has been the PM for 9 years. He has been in power for 21 years. I became the Delhi CM in 2015. I have been the CM for 8 years. I appeal to the people to compare who has worked more - him or I? They don't know how to work. They want to stop the others from working too. Modi ji had full power. He stopped me at every step.
"Please assess my 8 years in power. I built schools, I built hospitals, gave people free treatment, got their children good education, free power. I gave free power, Modi ji said I'm distributed free revdi. If I gave free revdi to the poor, what is the problem?" Kejriwal asked.
"Modi ji, aapne toh poore ka poora revda utha ke apne dost ko de diya. You handed over the whole country and the whole central government to your friend. I gave only a handful of revdis to the poor," he said.
"In 2019, people again gave all Lok Sabha seats to BJP and gave 62 seats to AAP and said again that Modi ji don't look at Delhi. But he can't control the country. He gets up and starts interfering in Delhi," Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said at the party's 'maha rally' on Sunday.
"I make schools, he doesn't let me. I make hospitals but he doesn't let me. Modi ji got my mohalla clinics demolished. Last year, he stopped free medicines in Delhi govt hospitals. I got CCTV cameras put up, but Modi ji makes the L-G stop that.
"Last year, he got free medical tests stopped. He got free yoga classes stopped. Modi ji, aap desh sambhaalo na, aapse desh toh sambhal nahi raha. Desh ka beda gark kar diya aapne. (Modi ji, please take care of the country, you are failing at that also. You have led the country to a ruinous state). Inflation is rising. Petrol is at Rs 100 per litre, diesel at Rs 90.
"Milk and vegetables are more expensive. LPG cylinders now cost more than Rs 1,000. They are not being able to understand how to control this. Class 4-pass king has no idea how to run the country," he said.
"One day they say, a Rs 2,000 note will come, five years later they say it will go. Had you chosen a wiser PM, they would have been able to say whether the Rs 2,000 note will stay or go.
"There is unemployment everywhere, they can't understand how to remedy that. There is corruption everywhere, they don't know how to fix that. Traders are suffering because of GST, they don't know how to fix that," Kejriwal said.
"They (the people of the country) will fight to protect your rights. Don't think that this is happening to only Delhi. They are planning to bring a similar ordinance for the rest of the country as well. An ordinance like Delhi which is like the declaration of dictatorship. People's power has been taken away. It will be brought in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh," Delhi CM and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said at the party's 'maha rally' on Sunday.
"It has to be stopped right now. We all have to stop it. Why is Modi ji targetting delhi? In 2014 the people of Delhi gave all 7 Lok Sabha seats to BJP and said you run the country. In 2015 Assembly elections, people gave 3 seats to BJP and 67 to AAP.
"The people of Delhi said: 'Kejriwal, you take care of Delhi," he said.
"The people showed Modi ji red eyes and said you take care of the country but don't look at Delhi.
"
"This is called dictatorship. The will of the people is not being followed. What does the SC say that the PM does not want to follow the order," said Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal at AAP's 'maha rally' on Sunday.
"The SC said that democracy is supreme. The will of the people is supreme. The elected govt, irrespective of the party, should have the right to work. I want to ask, was the SC wrong. Should the PM adhere to the order. Modi ji said i don't. He passed an ordinance," he said.
"What does the ordinance say? Modi Ji's ordinance says there will be no democracy in Delhi, there is dictatorship. The people are not supreme, the LG is. It doesn't matter who the people choose, I will run Delhi
"The Constitution was written by Babsaheb Ambedkar. He wrote that the people will be supreme. The PM has changed the Constitution. The people are not supreme, the PM is. People's vote has no value. He says it doesn't matter who the people of Delhi vote for.
"BJP leaders abuse me on a daily basis... I don't care. It doesn't matter what they say about me. I don't know how to abuse people. I'm busy with work all day. You gave me an opportunity to work and I work 24x7," the Delhi CM said.
"But they have disrespected you and your vote. I cannot tolerate this. This is a slap on your faces. We will not tolerate this. We will get this ordinance overturned.
"I have been travelling to different parts of the country. A few days ago, I met people of many parties. The people of the country are with you. 140 crore people are with you. The people of Bengal, Maharashtra, Kerala, UP are with you," he added.
At the 'maha rally' on Sunday, AAP national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, 'I can see at least 1 lakh people in the ground today. At least 20-25k people are on their way to the Ramlila Maidan.'
'Before starting my speech, I want to ask you, how many of you love me? Raise your hands. I want to ask you all, take your phone and start recording this and do live from Ramlila ground,' he said.
'12 years ago, we gathered here against corruption. This is a sacred stage. Today, we have gathered to oust a dictator from the country,' he said. "At that time, our movement was successful. This is a movement to end dictatorship, to bring back democracy. I thank our lawyer in SC, Abhishek Manu Singhvi for arguing for us, for you and winning."
"To say, India has the biggest democracy in the world. But, is there any democracy left in the country?" asks Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann at AAP's 'maha rally' at Ramlila Maidan.
"If BJP comes back to power in 2024, they will change the Constitution and stay in power for the rest of their lives. Narendra Modi will become 'Narendra Putin'--- Putin has also put himself in power for the next 30 years in Russia", he added.
Addressing the 'maha rally' at Ramlila Maidan, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said, "If BJP doesn't win elections in a state, it tries to come in power through by-elections. It will buy MLAs, get bypolls conducted, and somehow come into power. BJP is Bharatiya Jugaadu Party."
'What happens in Delhi is not just about Delhi, people from all over the country live here,' says Mann.
"Kejriwal is being punished for trying to provide healthcare to the people, taking elderly to pilgrimage, giving quality education to kids, and for giving free electicity to people," said Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh.
"This was the first time an American president's wife (former president Donald Trump's wife Melania) came and praised Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, and not just that, also said she took inspiration from them," he added.
"When this Bill comes up in Rajya Sabha, we will work with all Opposition parties to let it not pass. This Bill will not pass in Rajya Sabha!" he ended his speech.
Addressing the gathering at AAP's 'maha rally' at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal said, "What kind of a joke is being played in this country? The Constitution is being joked around with". He was referring to the Centre's ordinance regarding control of services in Delhi, which effectively made null a Supreme Court judgement which had given the Delhi government control over bureaucracy in the capital. He also said that he hoped Supreme Court would declare the Ordinance void."It is important to unite against BJP," said Sibal. "Let me tell you one thing, the common public does not like Modi ji. Which segment of the population has benefited from BJP's policies?"

Addressing the gathering, he also said, "The central government has passed an ordinance subverting the Supreme Court order. This is a black ordinance to end government in Delhi and stop the state from doing his work."
"Modi ji says that India is the mother of democracy; but Modi ji, you have murdered the democracy by bringing this ordinance," he added. "The people of this country fought for its freedom and Constitution. Yet this same freedom and Constitution is being killed by the arrogance of Narendra Modi."
"Everyone asks what difference will the ordinance make? What difference does our opposition make? Mark my words, we'll show BJP how we'll reduce their vote in Delhi to zero," Rai said.
Kalpana, 42, a domestic worker from Kusumpur Park in Vasant Vihar has come to the rally hoping to find a solution to the rampant water shortage problem in her area.
According to her, people in Kusumpur Park depend on tankers and boring wells to meet their daily requirements. She and her group of party workers hope to get this problem addressed by senior AAP members by the end of the rally.
Addressing the rally at Ramlila Maidan, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said, "Friends, Ram Leela Ground is a historic ground and every revolution has started from this ground. Several parties were born from this ground. Now, after nine years, AAP is ready again for the fight and struggle."

Along with them, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, Cabinet Ministers Atishi and Raj Kumar Anand, and senior party leaders Dilip Pandey and Durgesh Pathak have also arrived for the event.

"I am a daily wage labourer, and I work as a painter. I come for work here and get Rs 1,000 per day. But, today as soon I heard about Kejriwal's rally, I skipped my work and came here to support him," says Afsar, a painter from Ayodhya.
"It is okay, if I lose my earnings for one day because it is for my brother. He is doing everything for the poor. I don't know what this rally is about but I fully support Kejriwal in all his decisions. It is only the BJP which is stopping him from doing good work," he adds.
Swami ji (60), who runs a food stall from Shastri Park, says, "I am here today to support my Arvind Kejriwal. He is working so hard for the people, giving free electricity, water and sewer connection but Modi is trying to stop him from doing good works. Modi and Amit Shah are trying to stop Kejriwal from giving free electricity, water and basic facilities to the poor. I am with him, my entire family is here to support my son."
