The Delhi government on Monday announced the launch of a Rs 21-crore programme under which free professional coaching will be provided to 2,200 students from its schools — an initiative, Education Minister Ashish Sood termed as “a turning point in Delhi’s public education”.

The Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Vidya Shakti Mission will help students prepare for JEE, NEET, CLAT, CA Foundation and CUET through top private institutes, including Aakash, Narayana, KD Campus and Ravindra Institute.

The government has also reserved 50 seats per course for female students across JEE, NEET, CLAT and CA, and 150 seats in the CUET-UG batch.

“This mission is not only offering educational resources, but also building the courage, confidence, and emotional strength to dream bigger,” Sood said, adding that it includes “AI-enabled classrooms, human-centred education, and truly equal opportunity for every child”.

“No child in Delhi should ever feel unseen, unheard, or unsupported,” he said. “Education is not just about marks; it is about mental wellness, dignity, and humanity,” he also said and urged schools to strengthen psychological support systems, early-distress protocols, teacher sensitisation and peer-support networks.

Recalling his visit to an MCD school in Lajpat Nagar, Sood said that in school bags, distributed there, “were not just for books; they carried dreams”. The new mission, he added, “carries not just dreams but a promise that no child will be left behind due to lack of guidance, financial resources, or emotional support”.

Calling the initiative “a movement… to empower talent, protect mental wellness, and unlock Delhi’s academic potential”, Sood framed it as part of the government’s commitment to an inclusive and aspirational future for Delhi’s children.
