Advocate Rajiv Mohan will now be representing Sisodia in the case. (File photo)A Delhi court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia till March 22 in a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case related to the now-scrapped liquor excise policy.
This came after Sisodia was produced before the court on the expiry of his remand.
The court of Special Judge M K Nagpal also reserved its order on a plea moved by different defense counsel, raising objections against the commencement of argument on charges against the accused before the investigation is concluded. The court will pronounce an order in this regard on March 22.
Sisodia is now being represented by advocates Rajiv Mohan and Rehan Khan, following the filling of a fresh vakalat nama.
The former Delhi deputy CM is accused of extra-procedural interference in framing the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy, tweaking it for the benefit of particular liquor entities and causing loss of several hundred crores to the state exchequer.
He was first arrested by the CBI in February 2023, and then by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in March that year. In the ED chargesheet, Sisodia was named a “key conspirator” in the case. He resigned from the Delhi cabinet on February 28, 202
