Earlier in May, a magistrate court had summoned Atishi to appear before it in the defamation case over her claims that the BJP had tried to topple the AAP government by contacting 21 of its MLAs and offering each of them Rs 25 crore to switch sides. Atishi had challenged the summons order.
However, staying the proceedings till further orders, Special Judge Vishal Gogne of Rouse Avenue Court Friday said that arguments on merits will take place on December 2.
On April 2, Atishi had held a press conference, claiming that she was approached by the BJP to join them or face arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) within a month. Advocate Shoumendu Mukherji, who is representing Kapoor, said arguments have not taken place in the case till now as Atishi’s counsel has constantly asked for adjournments before the Court.
