Two personnel of the Delhi Police were apprehended for posing as CBI officers and allegedly extorting money from a scrap dealer in Sonia Vihar.
The victim,identified as Rohulla Khan,told the police that on Sunday,four persons came to his shop posing as CBI officers and accused him of selling stolen articles. After an argument,they took him in a car and beat him up. They also took away the cash he was carrying and the mobile phone and demanded Rs 5 lakh. The deal was fixed at Rs 50,000, a police official said.
Khan,the police said,called his relatives to the spot where the money was to be delivered. When two of the four accused reached the spot,they were beaten up and taken to Maurice Nagar police station.
Maurice Nagar police referred the case to Sonia Vihar and,on Monday,a case was registered against the four.
The accused,identified as Hitler Singh,was posted in Northwest Delhi police line while the other accused,Anil Kumar,lives in Shahdara police station quarters and posted in First Battalion of Delhi police. The two were produced before court on Monday and later sent to jail. A team has been formed and manhunt is on to nab the other two culprits,a senior police officer said.
