(Photo: PTI)Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has been remanded to judicial custody till March 28, moved an application in court on Friday seeking the removal of a senior police officer for misconduct.
According to Kejriwal, the security staff or in-charge responsible for producing the CM before the court allegedly manhandled people around the courtroom on Friday.
The application mentioned that earlier too, while producing former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia before a court in connection with the excise policy case, a written complaint was filed against the same police officer for misconduct.
“An application has been filed on behalf of the accused (Kejriwal) stating that the security staff/ in-charge responsible for bringing him for production before the court, namely ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) AK Singh, is unnecessarily harsh and mishandled the people around the courtroom,” noted Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of Rouse Avenue Court, and directed that CCTV footage be preserved.
Kejriwal filed the application before the Rouse Avenue Court, along with his submissions opposing the ED’s plea for his custody.
Scuffles broke outside the jam-packed courtroom on Friday, when police personnel tried to stop the press from entering the open court.
During hearings too, shouting and sloganeering against police could also be heard after many mediapersons and advocates were not allowed to enter the courtroom.
