Despite their private dining room,Chambers,maintaining their exclusivity,other restaurants at The Taj Mahal and Taj Palace Hotels on Sardar Patel Marg and Mansingh Road respectively have similar options. Guests are treated to a flute of Moet & Chandon champagne,followed by a traditional four-course Christmas meal on both Christmas Eve and Christmas day at the Kafe Fontana and Machan restaurants. The menu includes roast turkey and minced pies.

“Ours is not a pompous affair; we keep it real with kids running around and Christmas brunch as it should be. Do expect a lot of egg-nog going around though,” jokes Inderpal Kochar,MD,The Lodi,on Lodi Road. The Lodi has a live counter for both lunch and dinner with options aplenty for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Unlike the many Christmas dinners,the restaurant offers an a la carte menu in addition to a buffet. The priciest dish on the menu is the grilled lobster in garlic butter for Rs 1,225. They also have a four-course meal on offer,that includes watercress salad with blue cheese and duck consommé.

No Christmas meal is complete without mulled wine and Soak in Greater Kailash I claims to have gotten it just right. “It’s quite a task —the fusion of herbs and fruits need to compliment each other and the wine,” says Akhil Gupta,restaurant manager. Largely a wine bar,Soak too offers a five-course meal inclusive of pumpkin soup and a medley of duck infused with oranges.
