There’s an air of informality that surrounds Alia Bhatt. As the actor took to the stage at a recent event to unveil her own line of apparel for online retailer Jabong, she said, “As actors, we’re used to doing fittings, but when I was trying on a pair of jeans from this collection, I saw my name at the back. That felt really cool.”
With a glitzy fashion show earlier this week where models sashayed down the ramp to the tunes of David Guetta and Skylar Grey, Bhatt showcased her capsule collection which comprised cropped pants, sweaters, skirts, skater dresses and graphic tees. “I didn’t want to pick out random clothes and lend my name to them. I was involved in the designing process. The collection is an extension of my personality. For instance, the tee that says ‘currently unavailable’ is totally me,” she said, dressed in a little black dress from the line and ankle-length booties.
The collection, primarily catering to the youth, features a range of themes like bohemian, party and rugged, the latter consisting of ripped jeans and leather jackets. Heavy on bling, it features sequinned jackets, sweaters and dresses as also floral cropped pants and monochrome-hued skirts. About her personal style, she said, “I wear my clothes in a certain way and I had that sensibility in mind while designing. I love crop tops and wearing sweaters off one shoulder.
A little collarbone show looks very sexy.”
