Man run over in Mayapuri
One person died after being hit by a speeding cab in the Mayapuri area of West Delhi. The accident occurred around 1.30 am. The deceased,Kedarnath (33),is said to be a vagabond. He was crossing the road when a Tavera belonging to a Gurgaon company ferrying employees hit him. “The impact was so strong that he died on the spot. We have arrested Baljeet (21),the driver of the cab. Kedarnath’s body has been sent to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital,” a police officer said.

Unknown vehicle runs over trader
A man died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle in the Pandav Nagar area of East Delhi. The police said the unidentified vehicle hit the vehicle Hari Krishan Malhotra,a resident of Jagatpuri in Preet Vihar,was travelling on near the Akshardham Flyover. “We have registered a case of hit and run but are yet to trace the vehicle”,a police officer said. The deceased ran a business in B-block of the Jagatpuri area.

Court hears accused in ‘96 blast case
A fast track court here has wrapped up the final arguments of the 10 accused in the 1996 Lajpat Nagar blast case. Additional Sessions Judge M K Nagpal has now fixed April 23 as the date for rebuttal arguments by the prosecution. Concluding the final arguments,10 suspected Kashmiri militants,including a woman,Farida Dar,alleged they have been framed in the case. The May 1996 blasts in the Lajpat Nagar Central Market killed 13 people and left 38 others injured.

Woman commits suicide in NW Delhi
A 21-year-old married woman allegedly committed suicide in Northwest Delhi on Tuesday. The police said her husband told them she took the step because of depression. Neha was found hanging from the ceiling by her husband Shehzad around 10.30 pm and he rushed her to Sunder Lal Jain Hospital,where she was declared dead on arrival. Neha and Shehzad,who works in a private company in Azadpur,were married two years ago. No suicide note was recovered from her possession. The couple,who belonged to different religions,had married with the consent of their parents. The police said the parents of the deceased have not complained of any harassment.
