Cops to question 9 friends from victim’s locality

“Questioning of his friends has given us vital leads. But we will have to call them in for another round to get a more comprehensive perspective. We will also question his friends in the locality,none of whom are either from his school or college,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chhaya Sharma.

After scanning Modi’s email records,messages and call records,police are yet to come across a ‘concrete clue’ on the identity of his assailants. The possibility of the involvement of local criminals has not been ruled out.

“Prima facie investigations reveal that Modi probably knew that someone was waiting for him after his visit to the DLF Promenade Mall that night. He may have received a missed call from a PCO booth,directing him to meet at the pre-decided location. This is angle is being investigated,” said a senior police officer.

Police have also decided to question a male friend of one of Modi’s female friends who reportedly had had an altercation with Modi a few days before the incident.

A second-year IT student at Manav Rachna University in Faridabad,Shobhit Modi was stabbed to death near his residence in C-Block,Vasant Kunj,around 10 pm.
