Ever since her debut film,Slumdog Millionaire,swept the Oscars,Frieda Pinto has been in the news more for her taste in fashion than for the movies she has signed up. Recently,for “My Safe Place”,British actor Emma Thompson’s campaign against violence towards women,Pinto stepped out of her zone of LVs and Chanels and went for a beige kurta by Indian designer Nikasha Tawadey.

designer for an international campaign like this,” says Tawadey,known for giving quirky twists to her essentially ethnic designs. While the campaign,featuring actors like Kate Winslet and Gwyneth Paltrow,will be launched worldwide this summer,Tawadey is giving styling tips on Ferragamao.

Recently,the designer was invited by Italian brand Salvatore Ferragamo to do a styling session for their select clientele in India on how to blend the brand’s western look with contemporary Indian sensibilities. The event,held at Ferragamo’s flagship store at the Hotel Trident in Mumbai,saw Tawadey doing up installations to showcase the perfect fusion. “It’s usually difficult to imagine a Ferragamo scarf with a sari or a kaftan,but if you style it the right way,it can make for an aesthetic blend,” says the designer.
