Harikesh Meena was stabbed near a metro station; phone found, wallet missing
The 23-year-old constable who was stabbed to death outside Adarsh Nagar Metro station might have been killed by a gang of smack addicts or robbers when he resisted their attempt to rob him, police said on Sunday. Constable Harikesh Meena, who was posted with the Narela police station, was stabbed to death around 11 pm on Saturday.
It all happened within a matter of few seconds. There are a few eyewitnesses who have told us that they saw 2-3 men approaching Meena. He was later found stabbed to death, said a senior police officer.
Police said though the other motives were not being ruled out yet, prima facie it appeared that he was killed by robbers. Police said though the slain constables mobile phone was found on him,his wallet was missing.
It could have been a case of robbery attempt gone awry, but we are not ruling out anything including personal rivalry, said Meenu Chowdhury,DCP (Northwest).
Meena used to stay in the barracks of the Malviya Nagar police station and on Saturday he had gone to meet a friend in Adarsh Nagar.
